In recent years, there has been a significant uptick in the amount of middle- and upper-income families who have begun purchasing security camera technology for their property. Of course, security cameras are not new, but the technology behind them has improved significantly and has become much more accessible in the past few years.
For example, it used to be that having security cameras meant installing expensive, permanent fixtures attached to the exterior of your home. Now, though, there are doorbell cameras, nanny cameras, and other indoor security monitoring systems that are found in many homes. These can be useful not only in helping police catch criminals, but they might even help to deter the crime from happening in the first place. As if that wasn’t enough incentive to have security cameras, some insurance companies will offer a discount on their rates for homes that have a security system that includes cameras.
