Puppies bring so much joy to a home, but they also require a lot of preparation and work. Part of that preparation is puppy-proofing
There are many things in a home that can be dangerous to a puppy. Puppies love to put everything in their mouth and chew on all kinds of objects, as it is their way to explore. They are similar to human babies in that respect. Make sure there are no small objects that can be choking hazards. Tie up any strings and cords from curtains or blinds that are dangling so they cannot get caught up and strangled. Keep chemicals out of their reach. That also goes for food and drink that might be on open shelves at their level. You may find baby cabinet locks helpful to use on lower cabinets to keep your puppy out.
Make sure your puppy does not chew on power cords. Decorative items with strings and tassels are very appealing to them for chewing, so make sure they don’t have access to these. It can be very bad for them internally if they swallow strings.
